WELCOMING RECEPTION
An informal reception and pickup of registration materials will be held in the Atrium of the Quality Suites hotel, Sunday, September 9, from 18.00 to 20.00 PM.

CONFERENCE BANQUET
The conference banquet will be held Thursday evening, September 13, from 18.30 to 21.30 at Kentlands Mansion, a short distance from NIST. Meeting registrants will not be charged for the banquet. A charge of $40 will be made for accompanying persons to attend the banquet. If you plan to bring an accompanying person to the banquet, please inform Anneke Sengers by e-mail or fax (301-869-4020) by August 29.

ACCOMPANYING PERSONS PROGRAM
A program for spouses and other accompanying persons will be organized by Peggy Gallagher.

"EXCURSION"
In place of the traditional excursion, on-site tours of NIST facilities will be organized. In addition to tours available to the general public, it will be possible to choose a tour highlighting the displays and exhibitions prepared for the NIST Centennial celebration in 2001, or one devoted to topics of special interest to IAPWS members. The organizers encourage requests by the attendees for topics of interest to them. The plan is to dedicate Thursday afternoon to these tours. The afternoon may also include presentations on the history of NBS/NIST and on its role over the last 100 years in the development of standards for the properties of water and steam.

The Conference location is easily accessible to Washington, DC, and participants are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities for sight-seeing in the area before and after the Conference.
